Criteria

We invite applications from any businesses that have been trading for more than one year regardless of size or turnover. If your business does not deal with consumers, and trades only with other businesses, you may apply sooner.

Businesses seeking membership must satisfy the following criteria : –

  • Applicants must not have been disqualified as directors of any current or previous trading entity;
  • Applicants must have no outstanding judgements on the County Court register of Judgement Debtors whether as an individual, partner or director of this or any other business;
  • Applicants must have disclose all complaints, disputes or criminal investigations previous or pending prosecutions regardless of outcome, whether in relation to the current business or any previous business in which they had a controlling influence;
  • Applicants must have no history of justified civil or criminal complaints against any current or previous businesses which in the opinion of Business Approval Limited by the frequency and/or nature and/or seriousness would indicate that the applicant is not fit to be an approved member;
  • Applicants (including partners and/or directors of the applicant) must not have been registered bankrupt or been involved in insolvency proceedings of any kind within 3 years preceding the application);
  • Applicants must not have entered liquidation, dissolved or wound up a company within 3 years preceding the application for membership;
  • Applicants must operate a comprehensive consumer complaints protocol. Where such protocol does not exist on application a consumer complaints log and procedure should be developed and agreed with Business Approval
  • Applicants must no run a business that operates as an agency for other businesses. The owners and directors must have direct legal responsibility for the control of persons providing goods or services to the consumer;
  • Applicants must have no current or previous affiliation or history with a business that would not satisfy the assessment criteria.
